What Mole Removal Can Do For Your Health And Beauty

Current advancements in skin care have reached such remarkable heights. Scars and pimples are no longer something that people have to put up with. It's the same thing with other skin problems like warts. While it's not technically a skin problem, many people feel the same way toward moles. That is why removing a mole  is now practiced largely.

What are moles and why do they exist? Moles, or medically called as "nevi", are basically small pigmented lesions on the skin. They can be dark brown, black or even skin tone, and they have varying shapes and sizes. They could either appear from birth as congenital moles or later in life, even when they are full-grown adults. In contrast, these types of moles are called acquired moles. Everyone can have moles, although some people might have more of them. Physiology has a lot to answer for when it comes to the number of moles one has. You would probably even notice how fair-skinned people have more of them.

There are times when heredity can also be blamed for this. My cousin has quite a number of moles all over her body and no one was surprised, considering how her mother also had a substantial amount of them since she was young and she never really bothered to consider undergoing any form of removal methods for them. There is a name for such moles: atypical or dysplastic moles. There are also instances when these dysplastic moles appear on the skin due to prolonged exposure to the sun.

There is not one area of the where moles choose to appear in. They can be at random regions, and at varying densities. My cousin's face is clear and flawless, free from moles. But the concentration of moles is around her neck and upper chest area. Just recently, she was informed about the possibility of undergoing mole removal procedures to get rid of those unsightly spots around her neck.

But why do people want their moles removed ? The truth of the matter is, moles are skin irregularities or anomalies. If your moles actually enhance your looks and resemble Cindy Crawford's beauty mark, I see no reason why you should get rid of the moles. But Cindy Crawford and other models with beauty marks are a rare breed. Lesser mortals -that's us -are unlucky enough to be saddled with moles that are far from flattering. They would have to go.

Getting rid of moles is not purely appearance-driven. It is possible that these moles could lead to skin cancer or melanoma. In fact, it is considered to be the deadliest form of skin disease. They could be harmless at the beginning, but there are cases where even the harmless moles can become cancerous. This is especially feared by those who have many moles all over the body.

Aside from observing the moles, you should also have a doctor diagnose whether your moles are cancerous or not. Once they are proven to be dangerous, you should immediately take the initial steps to choosing a mole removal method that will work for you. There are many removal creams or lotions that are tried and tested to be safe and effective, or you could undergo surgery. The type of mole and the stage of the cancer risk will largely determine the treatment that you will choose.
