Why Mole Removal At Home Is Not A Good Idea

Searching the internet you can find many sites offering products for at home mole removal. However you should be wary of attempting such a thing. Unlike warts and skin tags, moles are often the first indicators of skin cancer, even if they have been there for some time.

Trying to remove moles on your face, hand, neck or any other body part could be extremely dangerous, as some can be precancerous or cancerous. Only a trained medical practitioner is able to examine one and decide whether or not it is malignant or benign. Even then they will send you for tests to confirm their judgement.

Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in humans. The most serious, malignant melanoma, often starts with something that resembles a mole. It is very invasive and can spread to other areas inside the body.

Removing what seems to be a mole, but is in fact a cancer, could cause you serious harm. Also, you will be putting yourself at risk of other cancers. If there are no marks on your skin to identify malignant melanoma, there is nothing to alert your medical practitioner to the likelihood that you may be developing other cancers inside you.

With all cancers early diagnosis gives one the best prognosis. Many cancers will grow slowly so that even a late diagnosis will still have a reasonable prognosis. Malignant melanoma however, can rapidly lead to extremely serious illnesses with poor outlooks, as it spreads unseen throughout the body. To give yourself a better chance of spotting the early stages of malignant melanoma leave it in situ.

If you feel it looks ugly and that is the reason you want to have it removed, please rethink. It is a unique part of you, nobody else will have one exactly the same and it helps to show your individuality. In other societies they were known as beauty spots or angel kisses and so highly regarded that people used to stick them on or pencil on false ones. The relentless quest for perfection in everything today removes all these signs of individuality.

If you really are bothered by it, perhaps because it snags on clothing or itches, then see a medical professional about its removal. They will ensure that it is not one of the early signs of skin cancer and only a tiny scar will be left where they removed it. Only if it is cancerous will doctors leave larger scars, because these situations demand that tissue around it be removed to help limit the chances of the cancer spreading.

Be proud of the signs of your individuality and keep a check on them. If any show signs of change, particularly growth, itching or bleeding, visit a surgeon as soon as possible. The doctor will check carefully and in most cases will be able to reassure you that it is not serious. Where they can't do that they will start you on a treatment immediately. Whatever the outcome, mole removal at home should definitely not be tried.
